Air Sahara announced today a Fly Unlimited plan where by customers can pay about 699 per day (annual plan, amounting to 2.55 lakhs per annum) and fly anywhere from anywhere in India, unlimited number of times. For someone who flys between say, Delhi and South India roundtrip every week, this is a very cheap deal. The fineprint of the deal is yet to be uncovered, but this looks like an interesting selling model.
There are several unlimited plans in the past, by movie rental companies, phone companies, Internet Service Providers etc. In the transport sector, the unlimited plans were limited to daily, monthly and quarterly passes in trains and buses in the past. An airliner offering this kind of plan is something new to this market.
