They lack a Laxman!

India’s dismal performance against Bangladesh in Cricket World Cup is not a reflection of its potential, but a mere reflection of lack of balance in the team. Out of the top order of seven specialist batsmen, only three could show enough determination to take the match seriously and rotate the strike. Only Ganguly, Dravid and Yuvraj, as long as they were there, have shown the tendency of taking it as business as usual. Rest of them are out of business, taking it as casual as they could.

Look at Ganguly. He is not at his best, but he tried to give his best on the day to be there and make India reach at least a respectable score. He might have been lucky a few times, unbelievably missing those edges, but he is determined to stay for 43.2 painful overs. Dravid is not that lucky and missed connecting his bat to be adjudged LBW, but as long as he was there, he rotated strike well.

What is team India missing there? They may qualify for the Super-8 even now, but they miss a Laxman in the middle order. May be 1-down or 2-down. The man who could adjust easily to the bounce or lack of it on foreign pitches. I thought Team India learned a lesson when they called back Ganguly and Laxman to the squad a few months ago. But it appears that the selectors are fascinated by popularity of players than the experience and talent of the likes of Laxman. If they have a good time, the current sqad may as well win World Cup. But if they are having a bad day, there are not that many in the team to rescue (like WIndies had in their match against Pakistan.)
